The Mini Institute highlights The HOT APPROACH as a reliable keystone for employing instructional practice that cultivates critical, creative and innovative thinkers, inspires and motivates educators, and sparks the joy in teaching and learning. It is a 2-3 day residential conference that introduces new material, explores the intersection between new state or federal recommendations and HOT Schools Practice, targets specific constituents’ professional development needs and/or reinforces specific content from the HOT Schools Summer Institute.
The Common Core State Standards address literacy across content areas. These standards align with the artistic processes of Creating, Performing and Responding.
Text Complexity and the Arts will use a "Touchstone Text" - Where the Trail Leads - as teams of artists from all disciplines partner with writers to explore art as text, providing participants with multiple sources while cultivating multiple perspectives.
Your two and half hour workshop will be offered Friday afternoon, and repeated Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon, with time for reflection at the end of the Mini Institute.
"Teachable moments are simple, natural moments when learned insecurities subside and the deeper, knowledgeable part of us emerges. In these moments, connected to our bigger mind and larger self, we are open like we were at first, before we learned to believe that learning, loving, growing and changing were hard.”
